Aloha!

I am Stefani Sakamoto a senior majoring in accounting, human resource management, and marketing at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. As a Direct Admit Program student and Shidler Global Leader, I am very grateful for the numerous opportunities that the Shidler College of Business has afforded me. During my time at Shidler, I was fortunate enough to complete seven different internships at Servco Pacific Inc., Territorial Savings Bank, New York Life, Jordan and Cara Odo Foundation, Spire Hawaii LLP, and Punahou School. These internships allowed me to gain a variety of business skills and expand my professional experiences. In addition to interning, I served in many leadership roles for clubs such as the Business Executive Society of Tomorrow  (President (‘21-’22) and Director of Human Resources (‘20)), Society for Human Resource Management (Director of Corporate Relations (‘20)), and Beta Beta Gamma Sorority (Community Service Chair (‘20-’21)). I am also a member of Delta Sigma Pi, various honor societies, and the American Business Women’s Association Nā Kilohana Chapter (2021 Scholarship Recipient), and participated in multiple international case competitions.

As this will be my first time studying abroad, I am excited to broaden my global perspective by studying at the National University of Singapore (NUS). Speaking with students who studied abroad in Singapore piqued my desire to study at NUS. I was intrigued by the rich cultural traditions, diverse community, stimulating academics, and opportunity to travel to nearby countries. In addition to attending the top university in Asia, I look forward to experiencing the robust business culture. Lastly, as a foodie, I cannot wait to explore the hawker centers and kopitiams Singapore has to offer.
